Predecessor of Flash. FutureSplash Animator was a software product for creating vector-based animations, the predecessor of Flash. It was developed by FutureWave Software, a small company whose first product, SmartSketch, was a vector-based drawing program for pen-based computers.
Work on the FutureSplash Animator continued, the company became restless with the idea that they were too small to generate the popularity they were looking for, so in October of 1995 they tried selling the software to Adobe.
In the year 1996, Macromedia approached FutureWave about working together. Since FutureWave had been running for 4 years with a total investment of $0.5 million they took the offer and in December of 1996, Macromedia acquired the company and product Future Splash became Macromedia Flash 1.0.
Macromedia was first to produce flash animation.In the year 1996, the media free websites at that time, were improved by adding Macromedia Flash which was designed to give an animated and interactive affect to the games.
